“FLPs – Late in Life or Broken Ones” is designed for all levels of estate and entity planners and will address common problem issues confronted with family limited partnerships after the initial set up. This presentation will address how to identify and remedy common issues which practitioners run into when dealing with family limited partnerships. Topics will include partnerships that have not been properly “nurtured,” how to remedy family partnership transactions (e.g., sales) which have not worked out as initially planned, identifying if the partnership is headed toward (or is already) a potential “bad fact” transfer tax litigation case and ideas of how to wind down successful partnerships which have already accomplished the identified family goals. SCOTT CARTER, JD, graduated from SMU School of Law, LL.M in Taxation. He is a shareholder with Mincey-Carter, PC, in Dallas. He has given several presentations including the State Bar of Texas. He has been named Texas Rising Star by Texas Monthly Magazine 2004-2009.
